While completing the Acumen + IDEO.org Human Centered Design course last year I met a bunch of fantastic local creatives. At the end of the course, we could not resist planning a 2013 Sustainability Jam to continue the momentum. We spent every Sunday for many months arranging the event. Every detail was covered, from the host venue to the feeling we wanted the participants to have when they first entered the space.

Among other things, I managed the promotion of the event and arranged Opher Yom-Tov, previously of IDEO Shanghai, to speak. We were overwhelmed by the response, with one group taking on homelessness and making some unexpected friends. Small, yet pivotal moments like these are what I strive for.

Running an international 2.5-day event to solve the world’s sustainability challenges required persistence and enthusiasm, with a very rewarding outcome.
